Our next club meeting is tonight October 17, 2013 at 7pm. It will be held at 81 Fort Salonga Road, Northport, NY. Chris Mazz will be speaking about the Historical Diving Society Conference that just passed.

This coming Sunday, October 20, 2013 will be a pumpkin carving at OBI. High tide is 8:30am so you should be there around 7:45am to gear up. There will be a BBQ following so bring what you would like to eat.

Hi Everyone!

Here's a few announcements:

1. Steve Burton is hosting "THURSDAY NIGHTS AT OBI" Starting this Thursday night at 6pm will be dives every Thursday night through the summer so please come and join us. Even if you don't want to dive, there should be a grill going. It's so nice to spend time with great people in a beautiful spot. I hope you can make it to some of them!!! Thank you so much Steve!

2. Gus Bricker has booked the Sea Turtle for a trip out to the U853 on Saturday June 15th. There are still a few spots open if anyone is interested. Please contact me or Gus if so.

3. Mike Butcher is looking to host a trip July 6th on the Halftime leaving out of Shinnecock. It will be diving the Shinnecock Reef. If anyone is interested there are still a few spots so let us know.

4. Gus Bricker is also hosting an overnight dive on the Sea Turtle to Block Island July 13th and 14th. The boat holds six. This is an amazing trip close to home!

5. Our next club meeting is set tentatively for June 11th at 7pm in the glass room next to Whale Tale. Whale Tale is open so grab a drink!

If anyone else would like to share a dive with the club please let me know. I appreciate all the efforts to get everyone in the water. You're all wonderful!!!

The dive season has just begun! 2013 is our year to get out there and make the most of what we have been gifted with living on an island.

Our next club meeting is June 11, 2013 at 81 Fort Salonga Road, Northport in the rear parking lot. It will begin at 7pm. I hope to see you there.

Hi Everyone!!!

Our next Neutral Buoyancy Club meeting will be Tuesday January 8th at 7pm. It will be located at 81 Fort Salonga Road, Northport, NY 11768. I hope you will be able to make it. I'm very excited to announce that Joe Sferrazza will be speaking!

Happy New Year to all of you!!! I hope this year is wonderful for all of us. Lots of diving to do! I would also like to try and give back to the community by creating projects by the divers. This is going to be a great year!!!

Happy Holidays!!!

I know this is a few days early for Christmas and a few days late for Hanukkah but I want to wish you all Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and all of the other wonderful holidays that are celebrated.

I was just looking through pictures from the past year and a half that Neutral Buoyancy has been going and it warms my heart to have met all of you. The people that have come into my life through this club and diving are truly a blessing to me. As I see each photograph and each smiling face I can't help but smile too. You are all so wonderful.

Remember in life to be kind to one another no matter what your differences are. Remember each of us are in the others lives for a reason. We are here to make each other who we are meant to be. Tell those you love in your life that you do and open your hearts to new people.

I know I've said this before but I wish only goodness for all of you (and good diving). I truly do hope all of your happiest dreams come true.

Club meeting and special offers!!!

Hi Everyone!!!

I hope you are all well and had a happy Thanksgiving. Our next meeting is December 11th at 81 Fort Salonga Road, Northport in the back parking lot room. Captain Ned has been kind enough to offer to speak. I wonder if we can get him to do some bbq too while he's there. lol Sorry I love his bbq. :) The meeting is scheduled for 7pm. I hope you can come!!!

Northshore Aquatics has a couple of great offers for everyone!!! SALE SALE SALE!!!! They are offering $25 off all Nitrox and Equipment classes throughout the winter season. Also 20% off all regulator repairs until February 28th. Stop down and talk to Mike and Joe.

We are planning a "Break the Winter" party! It will be hosted by Captain Ned and myself. The theme of the party is Salsa!!! There will be margaritas, chips and salsa, oh and salsa dancing if you like. I am not sure of the exact date but we are leaning towards February 7th. Let me know what you think. I would love some feedback.

I am diving this Sunday on the SeaHawk for a bottle dive. It is an easy dive and you can find a lot of historical bottles and dishes from the 1800's. If anyone is interested in joining up please contact me and I will get you on as long as space is available.

Meeting Minutes/Halloween Pumpkin Carving and Party

Hi Everyone!!!

We had a productive meeting the other night. Below are the minutes for your review. All the items came under vote at the October 10, 2012 meeting. I appreciate everyone's suggestions and help.

Meeting Minutes:

We will be creating an official club roster. This roster will include name, address, phone, email as well as a check box if members are willing to share this information with other club members to setup dives. It will act as a phone tree for the club.
We have decided to enact club dues effective January 1, 2013. The dues will be $25.00 per year. This is $2.08 per month. These dues will cover all club activities such as parties, bbq's at dives etc. Please contact me on how you would like to pay your dues at 631-258-6172. You can also mail them to Northshore Aquatics at 81 Fort Salonga Road, Northport, NY 11731.
We will be issuing a registration form in order to officially join the club and be a part of the mailings etc.
We have created committees!!! If anyone is interested in joining any of them please contact me and I will be happy to add you on. There can never be too many people on any of the committees to share in the club. Below are the committees and the volunteers so far:

Beach/Wreck Committee: This committee is a combination of both beach and wreck dives. Anyone is welcome to join and choose which dives they would prefer to represent the club on.

Volunteers: Steve Burton, Pierre LeCoq, Mike Meyers, Mike Butcher and Me!!

Travel Committee: Jillian Dragustky and Mike Meyers
Social Committee: Me!!!
Club Liaison: Me!!!
LIDA Rep: Still Me!!

5. Kevin Maritato is now our club treasurer. He and I will be handling all dues transactions as well as any expense payables the dues are used for.

6. We will be publishing a monthly newsletter along with all of my wonderful emails I'm sure you all love (sarcasm lol).

7. We will be creating t-shirts and hats with our club logo. (Trademark Pending)

8. I will ask Northshore Aquatics to have a blackboard in the shop listing all upcoming dives for the convenience of all.

I know this is a lot to digest but it is all necessary to make Neutral Buoyancy more "neutrally buoyant" as well as to distribute some of the responsibilities to the actual club members so that we can ALL have fun. Remember our club motto is "For the Divers, By the Divers". If you have any suggestions or would like to join any committees please let me know!!!!

The LIDA Film Festival has been rescheduled to January 11, 2013.

Now for our October 27th Halloween Festivities!!!!

Our first annual Pumpkin Carving will take place in Kings Park at the Nissequogue River. We should meet between 9 and 9:30am to dress and walk down to the water. High Tide is at 10:15am. The depth is a max of 15 feet. The rules are as follows:

Bring your pumpkin!!!
You have a choice of cutting and hollowing out your pumpkin but you may not pre-carve it. If you decide to leave the innards in it the fish love it (so do the birds).
No drawing on the pumpkin. All designs must come from you in the water.
You have 20 to 25 minutes to complete your carving.
You may only use your dive knife. If you have multiple dive knives on you, you may use them as well.

This should be great fun and a great prelude to our party that night!!!

Our 2nd annual Halloween party is being held in conjunction with the Whale Tale Bar/Restaurant. It begins at 7pm. There will be free food and a cash bar. It is not mandatory to come in costume but I hope you do!!! There will be a Halloween Costume contest which should be a lot of fun!!!

Well everyone I know its been a while since I've posted on the site. I apologize. We have been in the water doing both beach and boat dives as well as having a successful scuba fair! I want to thank you all for your participation. It means so much.

I want to put out an extra special thank you to Joe Lemaire and Philip Mazzella for conducting a Neutral Buoyancy Friday Night Dive at Beach 8th street, Rockaway beach this Friday 8-31-12 dive 8 pm or so. Show up for prep and orientation at 7pm. I can't thank you both enough for lending your time and expertise. You are both so wonderful!!!

Scuba Fair

SCUBA FAIR I will be hosting an extra meeting for volunteers planning to help me with the Scuba Fair that is July 21^st. The planning meeting will be Monday June 25, 2012 at 7pm. I am trying to figure out the location. Maybe we can just go to the Whale Tale or something and just sit at one of their tables. Some of you have already expressed interest in helping me. Please if you can do anything I would appreciate it. There is a lot to be accomplished and not a lot of time. I’m desperate for assistance.

Hi Everyone!!!

Our last meeting June 12th was wonderful! We had Sally Wahrmann speaking about northeast diving and she was awesome!!! Next month on Tuesday July 10th Bill Graham will speak about cave diving! He has some awesome photos!!!

July 21st will be the first Neutral Buoyancy Scuba Fair to promote youth diving! Please mark your calendars.
